MLK @ Grace 2024

Youth in grades 6 through 12 are invited to bring their chaperones to an overnight at Grace Cathedral beginning at 5 pm on Sunday, January 19 and ending around 1 pm on Monday, January 20

What to Bring

You will be sleeping on the floor of a Cathedral at the top of a hill in San Francisco in January. Please pack warm clothes, a good sleeping bag, a suitable cushion to insulate you from the floor, toiletries for overnight, good walking shoes, and a water bottle.

Chaperones

Each group bringing youth needs to bring at least one chaperone of each gender of youth that you are attending. Preferably one chaperone for every 5 kids. Chaperones will be asked to “hold watch” for an hour overnight.

Sunday Program

We will begin with dinner at 5 pm. Then a eucharist at 6 pm. after that the cathedral is ours for the night. we will be exploring the history of the diocese, as well as playing some games in the dark.

Monday Program

After breakfast in the morning, we will make signs, then jump on a streetcar/train down the hill to the MLK March. Then we will take the streetcar/train back up the hill for light lunch and heading home.

Cost

When registering, you will be asked to pay $20 per youth, to cover food and other costs. If you cannot afford that, there is an option for “scholarship”. Cost will never be an impediment for participation.
