Instructions for Teaming Up

When you hear a bell, we invite you to exit the nave and go outdoors to the plaza, where you will find two or no more than three other people, preferably people you don’t know or don’t know well, with the same word on the back of their name tag.

In your dyad or triad, you will then head out to the lunch tables.

Your first task will be to identify as many DioCal connections as possible between the members of your group. Connections can include committee service, ministry service, advocacy interest, or something else.

The second task will be to share what hopes the consolation themes stirred in each of you.

The third task is to take one square of colored paper per group and using the available colored marking pens, come up with a design, a word, a word cloud, or a drawing that represents your shared hope for the diocese, building on the themes. Try to think about how to make your hopes materia, such as a word in bold letters, or a cloud of words; or, a drawing pattern, or image. We invite your imagination and your hopeful reflection as you draw from your shared connections, what stirred in your hearts as we read the themes.

At the sound of bells, please prepare to re-enter the nave in a quiet reflective manner with your completed square.

The person receiving your square will say, ‘Your hopes join those of all gathered here today,’ and you will reply ‘With God’s help.

After your group submits its hope square, we invite you to join in congregational singing in the nave.
